Hey guys! Booktubeathon just ended and I'm crying a bit (I really really loved booktubeathon). One of the books that I read for BTAT was The Book Jumper, by Mechthild Glaser. This story follows Amy, a member of the Lennox family. The story opens as she and her mother return to the Scottish island of Stormsay, where her mother grew up. Once she gets there, Amy finds out that she is a book jumper, someone who is able to step into and interact with the world of books.
Okay, first off, I would TOTALLY freak out if I found out that I had that ability. Can you imagine being able to step into whatever book you want? Visiting Hogwarts, Narnia, and Wonderland? I think I would probably disappear into the book world and never come back. I could definitely spend at least a few months in the Shire.
One of my favorite parts of this book was the setting. It alternated between the book world and an island in Scotland, both of which are really beautiful settings. The author did an incredible job of describing them, particularly Stormsay. The descriptions really took me back to my trip to the UK. Now I want to go back. Darn you Mechthild Glaser!
The plot of this book was also excellent. The author did this really cool thing where she wove together the plot of the book with the plot of a story within the book. Personally, I love when authors do stuff like that. It's just so cool and inventive.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The premise was to die for, the setting and characters made me want to climb into the book (I'm so jealous of you Amy), and the plot was fast paced and inventive.
My final rating: 4.5/5
Thanks for reading my review, and until next time, happy reading :)

DeleteAh! I wouldn't want this at all, to be super honest. The book sounds amazing thanks to your review. But part of the fun of reading is being able to adventure while staying safely cuddled under the covers.
