The Tower

Hello everyone!
This week I had the pleasure of reading The Tower, by Nicole Campbell. And let me just say, Wow. This book completely exceeded my expectations.

This book is set in Elizabethtown, a small-minded town with an active group of local witches (I mean come on, how awesome a premise is that). It revolves around three friends: Rosalyn, Rowyn, and Reed. The three witch-sketeers. These three are honestly friendship goals. They've been best friends ever since they were little kids, and have had to face bullying from the local group of "good christians" for their whole lives. Their friendship was one of my favorite parts of the book. The novel also focuses on Jared, Rosalyn's boyfriend, who becomes a truly dynamic three-dimensional character in his own right.

I loved this book for two main reasons: the relationships and the witchcraft.The characters in the book are pagan, and the descriptions of holidays and practices are truly fascinating. You can tell A LOT of research went into making this book, and it didn't come off as preachy, inaccurate, or offensive at all, which is challenging when portraying religion. It added a lot to the depth of the book and the believability of the characters.Nicole is also very skilled at writing realistic relationships. I won't spoil you, but something happens that tests the friendships, romantic relationships, and parent-child relationships in this book, and Nicole writes them all in such a touching, moving way. The depth of emotion within the relationships is truly incredible.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, and I greatly recommend it to all of you. My final rating is 5/5. Thank you all for reading my review, and until next time, happy reading ☺️
