Vegan Biscuits

34
Hello everyone, and welcome to my first baking post!
This morning I woke up with a strong bread craving and I was like "You know what sounds perfect? Biscuits. Good idea Morgan." So here is my recipe for vegan biscuits :)

Ingredients:
-2 cups all-purpose flour
-1 tablespoon baking powder
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-1 teaspoon salt
-4 tablespoons nondairy butter (my preference is earth balance brand)
-1 cup soy milk
-1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:
1- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit
2-Mix together the dry ingredients
3-Now the fun part: add the cold (COLD! Very important!) nondairy butter to the dry ingredients and start mixing it with your hands. You'll want to break up the butter into very very small chunks.
4- Make a vegan buttermilk by combining the soy milk and lemon.
5- Pour in the buttermilk, mixing as you go. You may not need all of it.
6- Dump onto a lightly floured surface, knead gently 5 times.
7- Using your hands, form a layer about 1.5 inches thick.
8- Use a circular cookie cutter to form your biscuits (a wine glass works well too).
9- Brush the tops with butter.
10-Bake for 15 minutes.
11- Eat them all. Maybe on your kitchen floor, with jam out of the jar. No shame in that. No shame.
Biscuits in a basket (if they make it that far)

Thanks so much for reading my first baking post! Until next time, happy baking :)
